Exam or Audition Preparation

Prepare for Success

Music exams provide a structured pathway for students to track their progress and achieve their musical goals. We offer exam preparation through the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), Australia’s leading institution that provides a clear progression for students of all levels.

AMEB exams are held twice a year:

  • First period: April to June
  • Second period: August to September (based on the school’s postcode)

Exam Grading System

AMEB’s grading system begins at the Preliminary level, progressing through Grades 1 to 8, followed by the Certificate of Performance. Beyond this, students can pursue professional diplomas, including:

  • A.Mus.A (Associate Diploma of Music)
  • L.Mus.A (Licentiate of Music)

The grades are divided into three levels:

  • Level 1: Preliminary to Grade 4 (Beginner)
  • Level 2: Grade 5 to 8, then Certificate of Performance (Intermediate)
  • Level 3: A.Mus.A and L.Mus.A (Advanced)

Audition Preparation

In addition to AMEB exams, many students aim to audition for prestigious ensembles such as the Sydney Youth OrchestraAustralian Youth Orchestra, and other select groups. These auditions require focused preparation with specific performance goals in mind.

Tuition for Exams & Auditions

To ensure success in exams or auditions, we offer weekly one-on-one lessons tailored to each student’s needs:
